Literacy programs

We are proud to announce that Cypress has been awarded the Literacy Coaches and Reading Specialists grant (LCREST), marking a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering strong literacy skills among our students. Currently, we utilize a range of effective tools and programs such as Accelerated Reader and I-Ready within our K-5 classrooms. This grant has giving us the opportunity to get a head start with the implementation of Magnetic Reading in grades K-2, and Phonics for Reading in grades 3-5. Furthermore, this year the grant has allowed us to provide teachers with extra hours for Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and allowed us to hire an additional Intervention Support Teacher (IST). Thus, with the invaluable support of two dedicated Reading Intervention Teachers: Mrs. Montgomery and Mrs. Ramirez, we continue to strive for excellence in early literacy. Furthermore, we are dedicated to establishing productive Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) where ongoing progress monitoring and purposeful planning are central to our approach. With the assistance of our talented Teacher on Assignment (TOA) Mrs. Figueroa, we enhance our instructional strategies during modeled lessons, utilize PLC planning sessions, Professional Development days/sessions and What I Need (WIN) Time for targeted small-group differentiation to ensure every student receives personalized support tailored to their learning needs. Our WIN team consists of our Teacher on Assignment, two Intervention Support Teacher (IST), two instructional support assistants (ISA), and two bilingual aides (BA), ensuring comprehensive and personalized support for all learners.
